February 2020 Android security patch arrives

It’s the first full week of February, so you know what that means: time for the monthly Android security patch. Right on time, Google just made the patch available along with factory images and OTAs for its line of Pixel smartphones.

Recently, there have been a few months where not all of Google’s Pixel smartphones saw the latest update all at the same time. This month, however, every Pixel phone gets it, aside from the original Google Pixel which Google sunsetted last year.

The Android security patch is fairly small this round with only 13 issues fixed. However, some of those fixes are for issues with a “critical” label.

As far as specific updates for Pixel phones, the Pixel 4 series received the most updates. There are some camera fixes, a fix for an NFC issue, and a fix for a problem where some Pixel phones would get stuck during boot. So far, it appears the Pixel 3, Pixel 3a, and Pixel 2 families are only getting the Android security patch with no new features or fixes.
