Samsung pretty much dominates the Android tablet market, especially with its Samsung Galaxy Tab S6, which is easily the best Android tablet you can buy. Today, though, the company launched a much cheaper, simpler tablet: the Samsung Galaxy Tab A 8.4.

As one would expect from the name, the tablet has a display size of 8.4 inches, considerably smaller than the Tab S6’s 10.5-inch panel.

Another thing that’s smaller about the Samsung Galaxy Tab A 8.4 as compared the Tab S6 is the price: the Tab A 8.4 starts at just $280, considerably cheaper than the Tab S6’s MSRP of $649.

Of course, if you’re paying less you’re going to be getting less. The Samsung Galaxy Tab A 8.4 has a 5,000mAh battery, 3GB of RAM, 32GB of storage, and a 1080p display. Those are all weaker specs as compared to the Tab S6.

Still, the price is right for a tablet that you keep in the kitchen for recipes or give to your kids. On that latter point, Samsung anticipates this being a “kids” tablet and throws in a 30-day free trial to its Samsung Kids Plus service. Samsung Kids Plus provides educational content parents can feel good about showing to their children. As an added incentive, the second month after the 30-day trial ends is just $0.49.

The Samsung Galaxy Tab A 8.4 comes in both a Wi-Fi model as well as an LTE model. You can buy the Verizon version from Samsung.com and you’ll be able to get it from T-Mobile, Sprint, and AT&T stores in the coming weeks.
