Fortnite Chapter 2: Season 3 delayed by another week

The next season of Fortnite won’t be happening next week after all, as the game receives yet another delay thanks to the coronavirus.

Over the course of the pandemic, Fortnite has been just as prone to delays as regular games but it did seem as if its (second) Season 3 was on course to start on Thursday, 4 June.

But that’s no longer the case and instead you’ll have to wait exactly a week longer, until Thursday, 11 June.

That creates more problems than it might seem though as an in-game timer had already started for the new season and now that is going to have to be reset and ‘The Device’ event postponed until Saturday, 6 June.

The Device event will take place at 7pm UK time before segueing into Season 3 proper, much like how things worked when Fortnite flipped over into Chapter 2.

It’s assumed that the name ‘The Device’ refers to the doomsday machine being built by spy boss Midas and which fan theories suggest is intended to end the famous Fortnite storm.

There’s no clue as to what the theme of Season 3 will be, but it’s believed it will introduce underwater swimming, which offers up plenty of potential for wacky new storylines.

Fortnite has always been prone to datamining spoiling its secrets though so there’s a good chance we’ll find out more before the big day itself.
