The Last Of Us 2 review bombed by people who haven’t even finished it

Despite only releasing today, The Last Of Us Part 2 has been hit with a torrent of negative user reviews on Metacritic.

The Last Of Us Part 2, easily one of the biggest releases of the year, has finally launched today, and chances are most of you are playing it right now.

A quick glance at reviews shows a lot of positivity. On Metacritic, its average review score is 95. But its user score tells a very different story, only scoring a 3.5 out of 10 from user reviews.

We wouldn’t recommend reading them yourself as they contain spoilers, but common complaints include boring gameplay and disappointing characters.

Many of the complaints, unsurprisingly, criticise it for being a ‘SJW game’ and it’s hard to tell whether others are just being more coy or genuinely don’t like it.

What’s strange, though, is that there are so many users reviews already, despite the game only being available to the general public today.

The game is roughly 30 hours long, yet these reviews went up incredibly quickly, which makes it easy to assume that these complaints come from people who likely haven’t finished, or even started, the game.

Review bombing isn’t a new thing and is a tactic used to try and make a game seem worse than it is and hurt its sales. The same thing happened with Animal Crossing: New Horizons and many others. It almost never works.

If there are any negative reviews here, that come from a genuine sense of disappointment, they are unfortunately lost in a sea of bitter discourse that once again has people wondering if maybe Metacritic should get rid of user scores altogether.

The Last Of Us Part 2 is available on PlayStation 4.
