Dr Disrespect opens up about not returning to Twitch, may sue over ban

After weeks of silence, Dr Disrespect has given an interview in which he claims he still doesn’t know why he was banned.

Whatever is going on with Herschel ‘Dr Disrespect’ Beahm IV it is taking a very long time to get to the truth and even after giving his first interviews, after he was banned, we’ve still learnt very little – except that Dr Disrespect is never going back to Twitch.

Speaking to PC Gamer, Beahm claims that Twitch has still not told him why he was banned, but he ruled out that it was anything to do with discussing coronavirus conspiracy theories and referred to suggestions that it may be due to criminal wrongdoing as ‘crazy speculation’.

During the interview he’s very cautious about what he says, for legal reasons, but confirms that, ‘I will not be returning to Twitch’. However, he does intend to continue his streaming career elsewhere.

‘Let’s just say all the cards are on the table,’ said Beahm. ‘I’m more focused on just making sure whatever we do next, whether it’s a platform move or not, that it’s the right decision for the community and Champions Club that follows me.’

Beahm ruled out signing any kind of new exclusivity deal, as he had just done for Twitch, and hinted that rather than streaming from a Twitch competitor such as YouTube or Facebook Gaming (or the rumoured Spotify) he may instead chose to stream from his own Champions Club website.

As you can see, none of this really explains anything and it’s not even clear whether Beahm himself knows, or can guess at, why he was banned, regardless of whether Twitch told him or not.

He claims that his peculiar behaviour in the final moments of his last Twitch stream – which includes a moment where many fans assumed he found out about the ban – was actually unrelated.

Nevertheless, Beahm claims that he is, ‘considering taking legal action’ against Twitch, although he doesn’t indicate exactly what he would be accusing them of.

To add to the confusion surrounding the whole story, Beahm says that he has not spoken to industry insider Rod ‘Slasher’ Breslau, who claims to know why the ban took place but cannot say publicly for fear of a lawsuit.

Beahm also gave a similar interview to The Washington Post, with near identical answers and still no clue as to what the ban is all about.

‘I’m not interested in engaging in any of that stuff or that crazy speculation’, Beahm told PC Gamer. ‘I’ll say it again: I have a great community of loyal fans and I’m totally focused on just getting back to the Champions Club and delivering great, entertaining content.’
