Far Cry 6 release date is February 2021, Watch Dogs Legion is October

The first Ubisoft Forward not-E3 event has revealed a bunch of release dates, although the one for Assassin’s Creed Valhalla is a leak.

Although they usually put on one of the best pre-E3 shows the Ubisoft Forward event on Sunday didn’t have two much in the way of surprises, with Ubisoft promising that they’d have another one later in the year.

Three of their biggest games did get release dates though, with Watch Dogs Legion confirmed as 29 October 2020 for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, PC, and Stadia.

There will be next gen versions as well, once the consoles are actually out, with Xbox’s Phil Spencer popping up to promise Smart Delivery support and some impressive looking ray-tracing on Xbox Series X.

Assassin’s Creed Valhalla didn’t get a specific data, just a promise of sometime this Christmas. Although a deleted post on the Italian Assassin’s Creed account seems to indicate it’s 17 November.

Since it was official it’s presumably accurate, except there’s no obvious reason why they’d keep it a secret if they’ve committed to that date. Unless the date also happens to be the release date of one or more of the new consoles…

What we know for sure is that Far Cry 6 is out on 18 February 2021, on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X, PlayStation 5, PC, and Stadia.

There was no gameplay footage though, just another of those weird semi-live action videos that Ubisoft seems so keen on (we thought it was all pre-rendered at first but if it is we don’t know what’s going on with some of the green screen-looking stuff towards end).

As already revealed by leaks the game is set on a fictional island very heavily based on Cuba, called Yaran, with Giancarlo Esposito (Gus from Breaking Bad) playing el presidente Costillo.

If you’ve ever played a Far Cry game before you can see where all this is going even without any gameplay footage, although for some reason Ubisoft did release six screenshots illustrating gameplay, which… look exactly like what you’d expect.
