New PlayStation Store website rolling out next week

Sony has begun officially informing people about its new PlayStation store and all the things it will be changing/removing.

Last week, it was reported that a new PlayStation Store website was being developed and it sounds as if Sony will have it ready to by next week.

Sony has reportedly begun emailing PlayStation users to make them aware of the upcoming changes.

According to the email, as shared by Wario64 on Twitter, the website is set to launch from October 21 to October 26, though the changes won’t kick in for mobile until October 28.

As for what’s changing, it’s pretty much exactly what was initially reported. The new website will not offer any PlayStation 3, PlayStation Portable, or PlayStation Vita content, or related apps, avatars, and themes.

The wishlist feature is also being removed, most likely because Sony plans on introducing a new one for when the PlayStation 5 launches.

Sony has tried to reassure fans that any content that’s been purchased can still be downloaded from the respective consoles’ PlayStation stores and you will keep any PlayStation 4 apps, avatars, and themes you own.

The PlayStation 5 is backwards compatible with most of the PlayStation 4’s games and a number of titles will be cross-gen releases too, like Spider-Man: Miles Morales, but it’s now even more apparent that Sony is ready to leave its previous consoles behind.

The PlayStation 5 will launch in the UK on November 19.
