PS5 console pre-orders may not arrive today warns GAME

GAME has warned customers the PS5 might not arrive today even if you’ve pre-ordered, blaming courier Yodel and the size of the console.

You can tell the PlayStation 5 launched today because almost every website that sells consumer electronics is down and gamers are getting very angry about their pre-orders not turning up.

Neither of those things are a surprise – Amazon warned that Xbox Series X deliveries, at least, might not arrive until very late – but it’s GAME that seems to be under fire the most at the moment.

Yesterday evening they sent out an email to customers that have pre-ordered the PlayStation 5, warning that the console may not be delivered today and blaming delivery company Yodel – something which Yodel has strongly refuted.

‘Due to the volume of PlayStation 5s in the UK market and the size of the product, the launch has led to UK wide delivery challenges for all retailers and couriers,’ reads the email from GAME.

‘Our aim has always been to ensure that as many orders arrive on time for release day as possible, therefore we have had to secure multiple couriers to help try to achieve this.

‘However, for reasons beyond the control of GAME, Yodel have informed us today (18th November) that not all orders due to be delivered by them will be delivered on release day. This is due to capacity issues in their delivery network and may mean that your tracking information is not fully updated until Friday.’

Yodel though has blamed fulfilment company GFS, which GAME and others use to organise deliveries, issuing a statement that insists that, ‘Yodel does not work directly with GAME’.

‘Our client is GFS, a fulfilment business who work in partnership with GAME. We have been consistently clear on the order volumes we are able to carry for them and it is deeply disappointing that Yodel’s name has been incorrectly used in an email to customers on the status of orders.’

‘There are currently no delays within our network, and any issues regarding delivery capacity is a matter for GFS and not Yodel’, adds the angry-sounding statement.

‘The safe, secure and timely delivery of each of these parcels is our utmost priority, and we are committed to ensuring customers receive the excellent service which we stand for’.

Whoever’s fault it is, it seems many gamers are not going to get their PlayStation 5 today even if they did pre-order it. Although with luck it’ll only be a delay of a few days.
