Nier: Automata fans are flocking to Steam in frustration after the game debuted on Xbox Game Pass.

According to PC Gamer, the Steam version is actually inferior to the Xbox Game Pass version. The Xbox port is based on the Nier: Automata Become as Gods Edition, which originally launched on Xbox One. Developed by QLOC, the port brought with it several different augments that further polished the game.

That included a borderless video setting that helped resolve a problem that persists on Steam. There, it will launch with a fixed image setting, no matter what the user sets as their resolution. It’s a detriment that players had to patch themselves, with developers seemingly turning a blind eye for the past four years.

When Nier: Automata game to Xbox Game Pass, the resolution isuse had been fixed. It also received a slew of other patches to improve crashes and additional performance problems. Frustrated that the Steam version remains in the same state, fans have been review bombing the Nier: Automata Steam page to force developers’ hand in fixing the Steam version. The game has received over 500 negative reviews in the last few days alone.

The game hasn’t switched over to a negative review rating just yet, but players have a very unified call to action that they’re voicing loudly with negative reviews.

So far, there have been no official comments on the situation by Square Enix or anyone associated with the game. However, it’s been made quite clear that the Steam version isn’t quite the best place to experience Nier: Automata right now.
