Ghost Of Tsushima movie in production from Sony and John Wick director

PS4 exclusive Ghost Of Tsushima is to become a movie directed by John Wick’s Chad Stahelski, as Sony goes all in on movie adaptations.

Only yesterday there were rumours about Sony making a Demon’s Souls movie and now the talk is of Ghost Of Tsushima being adapted for the silver screen, a project which already has a big name director attached.

Although not the most critically acclaimed of PlayStation exclusives the game was a surprise success, and has sold over 6.5 million copies since last July.

It was intended as an ode to classic samurai movies, in particular the work of Akira Kurosawa, so anyone wanting to make a film version has got some Brobdingnagian sized shoes to full.

According to a report by Deadline, John Wick’s Chad Stahelski thinks he’s up to it though, with his company 87Eleven Entertainment set to produce the film, while game developer Sucker Punch Productions executive produce.

It sounds like the film is going to follow the same basic storyline as the game, which was based on the real-life Mogul invasion of Tsushima island.

Protagonist Jin Sakai still seems to be the focus of the story, although considering the game goes on for over 20 hours at a bare minimum there are bound to be changes.

Along with Uncharted and the rumoured Demon’s Souls adaptation that seems to mean that all of Sony’s PlayStation related film projects are now accounted for.

They apparently have seven TV projects in development as well though, of which only The Last Of Us has been announced so far.
