How To Get 3 Free Months Of Funimation On PS4 And PS5

As part of PlayStation’s Play at Home initiative, the company is offering an extended free trial to anime streaming service Funimation that effectively gets you three months free. The PlayStation-Funimation offer went live on March 25, so below, we’ve detailed how you can get free months of Funimation via your PlayStation console (plus some of the best anime to watch on Funimation). Note that this deal is only for first-time Funimation subscribers.

Funimation offers a 14-day free trial to every new subscriber, but that can be extended to three months by signing up for Funimation before April 22 through PlayStation. The process is simple, though slightly different depending on which console you have.

How to redeem PlayStation’s Play at Home Funimation offer

For PS4 owners:

  1. Download the Funimation app from the PlayStation Store on your PS4 console.
  2. Create a Funimation account.
  3. Sign up for the free trial on the Funimation app.

For PS5 owners:

  1. Download the Funimation app from the PlayStation Store on your PS5 console. You’ll be sent a promotional code via email within 24 hours.
  2. Create an account at funimation.com/PS5PlayAtHome and select “Start Free Trial.”
  3. Select the Premium Plus Monthly Plan.
  4. Enter your promotional code in the field where it says “Have a promo code?”
  5. Enter your payment details. Promo codes can only be redeemed when paying with a credit card.
  6. Select “Start Subscription.”

Once you’ve downloaded the Funimation app and created an account, the associated email address will get a promotional code within 24 hours. Use that promotional code when signing up for the Premium Plus Monthly Plan and boom–that two-week Funimation trial will get stretched to three full months for free.

It’s worth noting that the credit card on file will get charged the regular monthly subscription fee of $8 unless you cancel your membership before the trial ends.

Now that you know how to get three free months of Funimation, what should you watch on the streaming service? There are some obvious choices: Attack on Titan, Demon Slayer, Fire Force, My Hero Academia. But Funimation is host to a plethora of anime that tell all kinds of stories. There’s Sk8 the Infinity, which is essentially Initial D but with skateboards, following friends Langa and Reki as they participate in downhill skateboarding races. Then there’s the Inuyasha spinoff series Yashahime: Princess Half-Demon. Also, don’t forget about Dr. Stone and That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime, which both entered their second seasons this year.

There’s also some new anime hitting Funimation in the next couple of months. Alongside the hotly anticipated Season 5 of My Hero Academia, the service will see new seasons of Fruits Basket and How Not to Summon a Demon Lord Omega. I’m personally looking forward to Megalo Box 2: Nomad, which drops on April 4.

In addition to the free months of Funimation, PlayStation is giving away 10 free PS4 and PSVR games over the next month or so, including Abzu, Enter the Gungeon, and Horizon Zero Dawn: Complete Edition.
